WHAT DOES CONSISTENCY MEAN IN THE WORKPLACE?



Consistency is all about results and deliverables. It's the McDonald's model; we know exactly what to expect every time we order a Big Mac, whether in California, Texas, or Dubai. It's always the same, whether you like it or not! This consistency gives us confidence. At the end of the day, it comes down to consistent processes, policies, procedures, and customer expectations.


The key to success in any business is consistency. The company requires a consistent flow of customers who must be serviced by consistently motivated and qualified employees who will provide consistent quality to the customers.


People Are Important


The PEOPLE are at the centre of the cycle! What drives workplace consistency? A consistent workforce is the answer. Let's define the qualities of a consistent workforce.

I'd like to reveal a little secret to you: consistent results result from a higher level of discipline in the smaller tasks and habits we do on a regular basis. We call those good habits rituals.


Self-mastery:


The secret to any successful employee is self-mastery. The mindset and commitment to always improve come first. putting an emphasis on the chores that will help us get closer to our objective. Making daily rituals, such as getting up 30 minutes earlier to meditate and drink water to hydrate, are two examples. Maintaining and keeping our bodies in top shape is necessary if we want to get more out of life and our business or work. Owning your life means owning yourself.


Default Calendar:


Being disciplined to use the MAGIC word is also part of self-mastery. NOT PLEASE AND THANK YOU, as we learned in kindergarten. The most important work in self-mastery is NO. Prioritizing what we do entails managing our schedule in a proactive and intentional manner. Refusing to attend repetitive meetings and random events. Only say YES to activities that help your business. Warren Buffett, the famous billionaire US investor, once said, "The difference between successful and less successful people is that the successful say 'no' to almost everything." Wouldn't it be a relief to be able to simply say 'no' when someone asks you to take on another task or commit to another event? (Article: "Why saying 'no' will help your career")


Practice Gratitude:


That is one of the most transformative practises you can implement in your life. Every morning, practise being grateful. And now for a quick challenge. Since we are all grateful for the good things in life, such as our families and the roof over our heads, as well as the wonderful things we own, my challenge to you is to practise gratitude for the less fortunate things in your life. For example, "I am grateful for the dream car that I cannot afford because it has made me more disciplined to work harder in life in order to get it one day." "I am grateful for the years of civil war and living in bunkers because I learned how to be resilient...". That extreme was intended to make a point. Learn to use desires as a motivator for action. Finding the positive in the negative is what separates the successful from the rest.


Ask for help:


I know I said that practising gratitude is the most important skill you can begin implementing today, but this one comes in a close second. People who are consistently successful always seek assistance. They surround themselves with people they admire. Jim Rohn once said that you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. Take a look around you. Is it time to upgrade your crew? If you are the smartest person in the room today, you should be in a different room. And begin to learn from others.


Lifelong Learners:


Finally, you should never stop learning. We are one of the most fortunate generations to have had access to knowledge. Whether we are auditory, visual, or kinesthetic learners, we have tools to help us learn. The main quality of consistency in the workplace and when our employees want to learn new skills are constantly evolving, from YouTube to podcasts to print to everything in between.

Individuals and systems that are consistent and disciplined set the tone for consistency. Let us now contrast a successful workplace with a successful Major League team. To stay on the team, all players must possess these characteristics. They hire the best, have a rigors training schedule, are constantly learning and evolving their skills, and, most importantly, work as a team to help one another. And it is this kind of consistency that we require in the workplace. The consistency with which each team member arrives at practice and at games with the same attitude. A WINNING mentality.


Is Consistency at Work Important?


Workplace consistency is important because it helps to create a predictable environment. Employees are more likely to maintain consistency in their own behaviour when they can predict what will happen at work. This can help to avoid problems and keep the workplace running smoothly. This will foster a culture of trust and high productivity.

One of the key questions that will create a culture of consistency is for employees to ask themselves this qualifying question before every task: IS THIS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE COMPANY? This question will automatically put things into perspective and refocus priorities.

A positive workplace culture can also help a company attract and retain top talent. Great employees will always join great companies because they want to be around people who are similar to them. Do you believe your company culture will attract people who are relaxed? Consider the military: would someone voluntarily join if the military did not match their personal brand? Of course not, and that is precisely what organisations should concentrate on. Create the culture that you want your employees to have.
